AGCO Offers Logistics, Data Logging System

AGCO is now offering AGCOMMAND, a wireless data collection and communication system. AGCOMMAND will be released with the 2010 model year combines, which includes the Gleaner, Massey Ferguson and Challenger lineups. Other product applications, such as tractor and sprayer telemetry, will be released in the near future.

With the AGCOMMAND telemetry solution in place, the end user collects real-time machinery tracking and monitoring information about the equipment. Machinery operation information, including hours of use and machinery performance, allows for simpler maintenance management and provides a better understanding of cost and revenue issues. The vehicle tracking aspect of the system provides data that can be used to improve machinery use efficiency.

All collected data is transmitted wirelessly to a remote server, which can be accessed by the end user via the Internet. The data can be displayed in various formats, including mapping, tables, and reports. The user can also share the information with the equipment dealer, who can use it to more proactively track maintenance and warranty programs on equipment, perform remote diagnostics, and send out software updates.

The AGCOMMAND system components include a processor, memory for data logging, a GPS receiver and a GSM wireless modem for transmitting data via cell networks to the remote server. A GSM SIM chip connects the system to the wireless network provider, and a dual mode GSM and GPS antenna sends and receives information. Harnesses and mounting brackets are included in the system.

AGCOMMAND will also be available as a generic system that can be installed on other brands of equipment to allow a grower to setup his entire fleet of vehicles.
