Greeneye’s Partnership with Croplands Shows Commitment to Global Market Expansion

Editor’s note: In a recent issue of Upstream Ag Professional, agribusiness analyst Shane Thomas discusses how Greeneye Technology is expanding internationally with trials in Australia through a partnership with Croplands, which could drive adoption of Greeneye’s AI-powered precision spraying system in new markets. Here’s a summary of that article:

Greeneye Technology, a leader in precision spraying technology, has expanded its field trials outside the U.S., partnering with Croplands, Nufarm’s Australian-based spraying equipment subsidiary. This partnership aims to test Greeneye’s precision spraying system in post-emergence applications on Australian soil. Croplands, known for distributing precision spraying systems like WEED-IT and MagrowTec, will assess whether Greeneye’s system is compatible with its portfolio.

Greeneye’s precision spraying system, priced at approximately $240,000, includes advanced features like dual-tank capability, allowing simultaneous broadcast and precision applications. This dual-tank functionality enables efficient application of herbicides, biostimulants, and other inputs, making it stand out from competitors like John Deere’s See & Spray Premium system, which lacks a dual-tank option. Greeneye’s system is retrofit-compatible with most sprayers, allowing a broader reach across different farming operations.

Greeneye does not impose subscription fees for its algorithm, a significant cost-saving compared to John Deere’s per-acre fees. With estimated savings of 94% in herbicide usage and 87% in non-residual herbicide use during post-emergence spraying, Greeneye claims it achieves similar weed control efficacy to traditional broadcast methods. Additionally, it promises a high return on investment for farms over 3,000 acres, predicting cost recoupment in less than two years.

Greeneye has also introduced a “canopy mode,” which targets applications like fungicides and micronutrients directly to the crop canopy, reducing unnecessary soil contact and saving spray volume by up to 30%. This addition highlights Greeneye’s vision to extend its precision technology to inputs beyond herbicides, addressing broader agronomic needs. With these innovations, Greeneye aims to cover 200 million acres of cropland in the U.S. by 2024, primarily focusing on corn, soybeans, and potentially cotton. As precision agriculture technology continues to advance, Greeneye’s partnership with Croplands reflects its commitment to global market expansion and its potential impact on agricultural efficiency and sustainability.
