2024 VISION Conference: Ag Tech Adoption, AI and Data Usage Among Key Topics Discussed on Day One

Day one of the 7th VISION Conference was high energy and filled with as much insight into the ag tech industry as attendees could soak up.

Emcee Clare Forestier kept attendees focused and moving so the atmosphere stayed electric throughout the day. Conference co-chairs Heather Tunstall and Joe Monahan were thrilled with the attendance and thanked the many sponsors, supporters, and advisors who made it all possible.

Conference keynoter Vasanth Ganesan set the tone for the day with his insights about the future of the industry, much of which focused around the challenge of adoption. Following up on that, the first panel delved into Revolutionizing Ag Tech Adoption: Proving the ROI to Farmers, moderated by Vonnie Estes, Vice President of Innovation, International Fresh Produce Association. The panel included Chad Hertz, Hertz Farm Management; Tim Bucher, Agtonomy; and Ben Voss, Raven.

Next, the curtain rose, the popcorn came out, and the tech spotlight lit up the stage to focus on conference sponsors Corteva, Ever.Ag, MentorMate, and Raven.

Following lunch, attendees were split up into three groups to tackle an industry challenge. The Strategic Solutions Teams Challenge is an interactive session designed to harness the collective expertise and creativity of the industry leaders. The three groups looked at AI + Data Usage, Infrastructure and Support Barriers, and Ag Tech Adoption. Following their hour-long session and a business break, all three presented their findings, complete with a colorful artist rendering of the groups’ work.

The next panel delved into the data deluge and how to turn that into strategic insights. Maximizing Growth Potential for C-Suite Leaders featured moderator Sebastian Ortiz-Chamorro, MentorMate and panelists Doug Applegate, Praxidyn; Kevin Krieg, Intelinair; and ag tech executive Brent Shedd.

Driving Ag Tech Adoption: The Power of Interoperability and Collaboration was the final panel of the day with moderator Aaron Magenheim, Lighthouse Ag. Panelists Bob Trogele, AMVAC; Ben Sloan, Ever.Ag; and Martha Montoya, AgTools offered insights to drive ag tech adoption through increasing efficiency, productivity, and overall success in the agricultural industry.

Since the weather in Arizona has been chilly, rainy, and overcast, the VISION networking reception had to be held inside instead of in the courtyard, but that did not dampen the spirits of attendees who continued great conversations and forging new friendships.
