Bayer Crop Science Extends Global Partnership with AgriFutures growAG for Innovation

Bayer Crop Science has extended its partnership with Australian agri-food tech innovation platform, AgriFutures growAG, into 2024 to reach innovators, startups and researchers with its innovation challenges.

AgriFutures growAG, which was launched in 2020, is a global platform for agri-food innovation. It connects the global agri-food network of researchers, investors, universities, startups, scale-ups and corporates to build opportunities for international cooperation and collaboration. General Manager Harriet Mellish said partnerships with companies like Bayer were a great showcase for AgriFutures growAG capabilities.

“Bayer have been really active on the platform, with 19 listings to attract participants for their Open Innovation challenges and grant programs,” she said. “We’re thrilled to partner with Bayer into 2024 and continue to help connect them with the global ecosystem.”

Phil Taylor, Director of Open Innovation & Outreach, Bayer US – Crop Science, said AgriFutures growAG had been a valuable tool to help find new sources of innovation for the largest agricultural research and development organization in the world.

“Working with people and organizations outside our company is critical to drive innovation that would not otherwise happen,” he said. “We have huge resources, but we’re very cognizant that we can’t do everything; and we can never be as nimble as individuals or small companies or see over the horizon like they can. We want to find and support as many of those innovators as we can, to drive toward a food secure future together.”

AgriFutures growAG is an initiative of the Australian Government through the AgriFutures Research and Development Corporation. The platform has listed over 3,000 projects and 350 funding opportunities to date. Visitors from more than 150 countries visit AgriFutures growAG with over 9,000 visitors per month this year, a number that is growing steadily.

“We’re very focused on promoting AgriFutures growAG internationally this year, and we’ve had a very warm reception in every new market we’ve approached so far,” said Mellish. “As well as the platform we have a big team of people who are there to help concierge opportunities, projects and companies who are interested in participating more actively in the global agri-food ecosystem, so we encourage anyone who’s interested to visit the platform and reach out to speak to us.”
