FIRA 2020 Goes 100% Virtual for Three Days

How to bring together agricultural robotics experts from all over the world, given the current context? To achieve this, GOFAR, the association organizing FIRA, has decided to arrange a virtual version of its annual event, from 8 to 10 December, 2020. Through its recognized platform, FIRA will provide international participants with online live access to speakers, stand tours and interactions with exhibitors and other participants, and will thus become the social network for agricultural robotics.

This three-day new format combines innovation and quality online experience for a sector that has a key role to play to address the current environmental, economic and social issues.

FIRA 2020: When the virtual opens up a field of possibilities

Since its first edition, robot manufacturers, the agri-food industry, producers, researchers, investors and solution providers from around the world have been meeting up in Toulouse, France at FIRA, the International Forum of Agricultural Robotics.

For its 5th edition and given the unusual context, FIRA will become virtual as it aims to bring together over 3,000 participants from around the world, on December 8th to 10th, 2020 (compared to 850 participants in 2019 in its physical version). This virtualization will therefore offer a wonderful opportunity for the sector to increase its attractiveness and make it possible for all professionals of agricultural robotics, wherever they are, to participate in this new approach to the agricultural world, while limiting its carbon footprint.

Thanks to conferences and round tables available live, or “on demand” upon completion, participants from around the world will not have to be constrained by time zones.

The booths will be accessible via videos, brochures and photos from the exhibitors and through chat or video discussions.

The 2nd edition of the RobAgri Scientific Symposium will also be on the program in a dedicated room, with the presentation of technical and scientific research projects, along with a poster area about these projects.

2020 Program: “Agricultural robotics: an integral part of the new approach to the agricultural world?”

This year is marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the global lockdown we all have to face. An unprecedented situation which impacts agricultural production and reveals the difficulties of this demanding sector, in need of manpower. In this context, how can robotics bring an adapted and alternative response, without neglecting its integration into an exceptional social, economic and environmental context?

The international speakers, selected for their expertise, will be in the spotlight to bring their vision and exchange with the participants.

Novelty: Robot Demos

This year, all robot manufacturers will offer live demos, presented live and exclusively at FIRA.

Picking, animal welfare management, weeding, disease detection, autonomous platforms and data collection, are some of the many implementations for which robotics already has solutions. FIRA represents a unique opportunity to share knowledge, explore new collaborations and consider together the conditions to integrate innovative robotic solutions in an agricultural process anxious to reduce risks for health, food production and the environment.

Registration for this new FIRA edition will soon open, and we will be pleased to meet you in December for a program still in preparation, in order to fuel rich debates which will lead to a summary of discussions.
