Burro Adds New Zealand-Based Agri Automation to Distributor List

Philadelphia, Penn.-based Burro, an autonomous mobility company providing solutions for the agriculture industry, has added New Zealand-based Agri Automation, a regional provider of innovative agricultural solutions designed to improve productivity and efficiency of farms and nurseries, to its growing list of distributors. The move firmly establishes Burro as the leading provider of autonomous mobility platforms for the agriculture industry in the Southern Hemisphere.

Burro is the only plug-and-play autonomous robot available which increases productivity in conventional production environments. It also features patent-pending Pop Up Autonomy, which means the technology works immediately out of the box and empowers anyone on a job site to be an operator with very little training. Burro does not require a centralized control or installation of burdensome infrastructure. Instead, the robots use computer vision (cameras) and AI to learn and to navigate autonomously from points A to B while carrying harvested produce, as well as mowers and partner technology applications. Burro is proven to help agricultural clients realize improvements in efficiency by up to 40 percent.

“We are thrilled to announce Agri Automation as the latest Burro distributor. This important development makes Burro the dominant autonomous mobility device for labor collaboration in the Southern Hemisphere,” said Don Black, vice president of growth, Burro. “For operators seeking to solve the challenges of agricultural labor shortages and reduced operational productivity, Burro is the solution, as it offers multi-use applications for high-value permanent crops in both indoor and outdoor settings.”

“We’ve made it our mission to help farmers and fruit growers modernise and future-proof their operations. As a team with decades of experience in farming and farm equipment, our partnership with Burro will enhance our ability to provide exceptional modern technologies and support to our clients. All the products we offer are proven to help reduce operational costs, improve operator experience and safety, and increase the efficiency and productivity of farmers’ businesses,” said Chris Clifford, Managing Director, Agri Automation. “We look forward to putting Burro technologies to work for the New Zealand agriculture industry.”

Two significant operational challenges facing the agriculture industry today are an unprecedented shortage of field laborers and increasing labor costs. Burro resolves these challenges by enabling force multiplication of workers and taking on the burden of carrying and towing heavy loads, while also boosting profitability. In addition to these core capabilities, Burro robots also autonomously follow, scout, patrol and can be outfitted with third-party equipment, such as automatic pollinators and advanced scouting technology, to boost productivity further.
